The most dangerous area of any NASCAR event is on the track itself. However, in a horrifying few minutes for fans at the Coca-Cola 600, a camera cable snapped just above them and dangled dangerously before the race was finally delayed.
At first, as we can see at the 33-second mark of the video, the cable goes slack just long enough to provide fans enough time to duck or begin warning officials of the breaking cord. At that point, the cars on the track below raced past for the first time.
However, it is not until roughly the 1:09 mark that the cable sinks low enough to be struck by the cars driving back around for a second time. This time, the cable would injure 10 fans, sending three of them to the hospital. From the looks of this horrifying video, things could have been far worse. Check out the video
