Billy Currington's legal problems have cost him a NASCAR gig. The Charlotte Motor Speedway announced on its website Friday it was replacing the embattled country star with fellow country singer Josh Turner for a pre-race concert on May 18th.
Speedway president and general manager Marcus Smith cited Currington's recent indictment for allegedly making "terroristic threats" against a tour boat captain as reason for the change. Smith said he was confident Turner would put on a "fantastic show" for fans and sponsors at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on race weekend.
Currington was released on bail Thursday after turning himself in to authorities in Georgia. The country star was also indicted on a charge of abuse of an elder person based on the boat captain's age.
Charles Harvey Ferrelle claims the singer started screaming at him and threatened his life while he was carrying his customers on a boat tour near Tybee Island on April 15th.
